Is there any synthesizer you feel is undervalued at the moment? In general that is, offcourse there can be bargains found everywhere. I suppose there are two ways of looking at it. Lots of value for money or a good investment. What do you say?
In the analogue domain (which is my neck of the woods) I consider the Siel Mono a gem compared to the prices payed. Stylewise it's a massive failure, but under that brown metal it's great.
The filter settings are useful indeed and the built-in chorus called animator is very nice too.
I've modified mine with midi and found two extra octaves below what the keyboard offers.
Thank you. I've also been told that the Future Retro XS is possible to get for really reasonable prices - good value for money..
Alesis Ion and Micron. They were cheap already at their release, and they are versatile and fat sounding synths that are both easy to edit for the beginner, and offers lots of features for the more experienced user.
I agree, I got a 2nd hand Ion for SEK 2500, and it is a great synth for the money. I think many´of the synths from 80ies are bargains, as the DX7. It is and will always be a classic.
I still use an old Korg K1 from that era for some low fi strings and pads that are hard to make on more modern machines.

Yes - Alesis Micron is a steal for the current used prices. I'm now a big fan of the Yamaha TG-33 and related synths. It can produce some very interesting Wavestation type textures. Run them through some stereo delays and it know your socks off. I've also recently begun to but up synths that have broken keys and burnt out LCD screens. They go for next to nothing and you basically get the rack version of the synth for less money. Just because the keys are broken doesn't mean you can't trigger the sounds from a master keyboard. I recently picked up a Roland MC505 with a burnt out LCD screen for cheap and replaced the LCD for less than $50.
Micron eeh,, might go for that. My mate has one and I like it. But hey,, you need to have em ya'self right?
I dont know about the Micron and Ion...
Like.. the Ion... has an unreal amount of editing possibilities. Amazing knob layout, display, three mod wheels.. it SHOULD be amazing, but its so thin and flat. I tried and tried to convince myself that I liked its sound enough, but I dont. That's likely why it's dirt cheap.
Today a Siel Mono was sold on Ebay UK. Disgustingly cheap if you as me...
I Need a midi to CV converter for my Pro One. Old membrane key contacts have been cleaned many times and are shot. no good deals for the Pro One can be found. Any suggestions on a similar replacement or a converter?
I vouch for the micron, you'll use it for everything. The drum sounds are tinny, but it's a beautiful synth.
Why does it say I'm not allowed to post in Topics?
You need to reply on other topics a few times first. This is to avoid spam. We get so many bots coming on posting Viagara stuff otherwise..

The first generation of VA's (from 10-15 years ago) are selling for knock down prices now. For example, the Korg MS2000 and the original Nord Lead. They may not be the latest and greatest, but they're nothing to turn your nose up at for the prices they go for now.
