Youtube Sample King - Kutiman

This is Kutiman and his awesome YouTube sampling projec Thru You. My mate Tex Hurricane sent me these videos and wow, really impressive stuff! This has just totally blown my mind. Kutimans real name is Ophir Kutiel, he is a musician from Israel, and he has basically resampled a huge bunch of YouTube videos and made new songs of them. It's obvious Kutiman knows his ways, the result is quality all over. You can also tell that Kutiman likes the electro gear. Lots of synthesizer demos used, you can even spot the rare Yamaha GX-1 in the song "Someday".

In an Internet radio interview from June 2009, Kutiman described how the idea of Thru You first came to him:

At first I took some drummers - before I had the idea about ThruYou I took some drummers from YouTube and I played on top of them - just for fun, you know. And then one day, just before I plugged my guitar to play on top of the drummer from YouTube, I thought to myself, you know - maybe I can find a bass and guitar and other players on YouTube to play with this drummer

Working on the Thru You project took two months, and Kutiman described it as quite intense:

It took me two months, but it was really intense. I barely eat, I just worked on a computer and went to sleep...day and night, and night and day...didn't see any friends, no family...not even the sun.

The samplevideos has been around for a while and you might have seen them before. If you haven't dont miss out. All the amazing Kutiman video samplings from his album Thru You are posted here. The last clip is Kutiman himself describing his work with the youtube samplings.

Iamamiwhoami pushing tempo up

It seems our dear friend Iamamiwhoami is pushing the tempo up. Now she released another video called U-2. It's similar to the last one. Again its a fortress made of paper boxes and a guy sitting inside wearing just his underwear. He is holding a scary doll looking like Iamamiwhoami in his lap. Smart thing making videos without Jonna Lee in it. Might get the speculation going again. Good on ya guys!

Really cool underwear, or what do you think Jonna?

New Iamamiwhoami video U-1 released

A new Iamamiwhoami video was released on youtube a few hours ago. It seems like we are in a loop with a new video coming every two or three weeks. And a remix of that track released 2 weeks after.

This latest video is called U-1 and the forrest it takes place in looks very swedish to me. Iamamiwhoami herself is made into some kind of puppet. But The guy in the photo above looks very much like one of the musicians around Jonna Lee. Big reveal should be close, but we've said that before haven't we? C'mon Jonn,,,a hm,m I mean Iamamiwhoami, speed things up a bit please..

Here's the latest Iamamiwhoami clip called U-1

Its clear that the Mandrake theme continues:

"The making of mandrake puppets is described by several Elizabethan and Jacobean writers; the bryony roots were trimmed to look as human as possible, and given hair and a beard by pricking small holes into them and inserting sprouting millet or barley seeds. The craft was still practised in East Anglia early in the ... See More20th century, but partly in fun; countrymen would display ‘female’ mandrakes in the pub, and the most realistically carved would win a prize—after which the figures would be hung in a sow's sty to make her prolific, or put among money under the mattress (Porter, 1969: 46-7). In London street-markets in the 1920s the mannikins were sold to be fixed to the bedhead ‘for good luck’" (Lovett, 1925: 74).

Super Broker Shuffle - Old School Rap TVC

I Found this TV commercial on youtube. It's a rap shuffle (more like talking singing, you'll understand what I mean...) made by the original employees of  "The Southern Food Brokerage". No hired actors or casted freaks, it's the real deal for sure and I'm totally sold. I hope they follow this up with a synth version.

Kind of like the Super Bowl Shuffle...but maybe not

I Have Synth

Biography:

Been into synthesizers for 15 years, but never a technical geek. I'm a member of the band Velours Perfect, and have had electronic music as a hobby since I stopped playing with G.I Joe Figures. I buy and sell synths all the time, sometimes manically, and my favourite synth varies, right now it is the Alesis Ion. On this blog you can read about whatever comes out of my mind, mostly synthesizer-related stuff though. Bzzt!

I'm also on Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo and off course Ihavesynth.
